Walking hearth furnaces are suitable when the material to be heated consists of billets, blooms and slabs with a wide range of types of steel, of medium thickness and in those cases where the layout of the plant has fewer space limits.

The installation of this type of furnace requires a higher investment than the pusher furnace.
